Veteran MMA executive Scott Coker is officially making his return to the fight business. The former Strikeforce and Bellator boss is expected to co-found a brand-new MMA organization scheduled to launch in 2027, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The promotion is backed by a reported $60 million investment group and will feature several notable names behind the scenes.

Coker Reveals Vision For New MMA Organization

Coker will serve as CEO of the new promotion, which has not yet revealed its official name. Among the investors attached to the project is skateboarding icon Tony Hawk, along with Griffin Gaming executive Peter Levin, who is also listed as a co-founder. Coker explained his decision to jump back into MMA:

“I always knew I wanted to come back when the time was right. That time is now.”

“There is an incredible demand for a fresh, new global brand in MMA.”

“This new league is about returning to what matters: the integrity of competition, respect for the athletes and sharing their remarkable journeys with the world.”

More Details Expected Soon

Coker also acknowledged the announcement on social media Thursday with a brief message confirming his comeback to MMA.

Additional information surrounding the promotion is expected to be revealed in the coming months. That includes the company name, roster plans, leadership structure, and event schedule.

Coker remains one of the most recognizable figures in MMA promotion after helping guide both Strikeforce and Bellator through major periods of growth during their runs in the sport.

Can he compete with UFC?

Coker is heading into what is becoming a very crowded space. With the recent launch of MVP MMA on Netflix, and PFL’s acquisition of Bellator (Coker’s former promotion), we can wonder if there will be any free agents or upcoming prospects willing to sign to his new league.
