The planned showdown between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Mike Tyson has officially been pushed back after Tyson reportedly suffered a hand injury during training camp.
The exhibition bout was originally targeted for late April, adding another unusual chapter to the growing list of veteran crossover fights in combat sports.
Instead, the matchup is now expected to move to later this year.
Tyson Recovering From Broken Hand
CSI Sports confirmed the postponement this week while providing an update on Tyson’s condition.
The promotion also revealed Tyson has already been seen wearing a cast while recovering. According to their press release, he is looking forward to the fight on a new date, somewhere in the fall of 2026.
“Tyson and Mayweather will have a short moment to wait while Tyson fully recovers from a broken hand.”
Tyson, now 60, last competed in a heavily criticized exhibition vs Jake Paul that sparked debate across the combat sports world about aging legends continuing to fight.
Mayweather Already Has Another Fight Scheduled
The delay could create another problem for the event organizers.
Mayweather already has a major exhibition booked for the fall. The undefeated boxing star is currently scheduled to face Manny Pacquiao in a rematch on Sept. 25 in Las Vegas.
That leaves limited room on the calendar if the Tyson bout is expected to land during the same stretch.
For now, organizers have not announced a replacement date or venue for the postponed exhibition.
