Derrick Lewis is known for his knockout power inside the Octagon. This week, he gave fans a reminder that even a playful punch from “The Black Beast” can be a painful experience.
A video shared Friday by former UFC fighter Mana Martinez quickly gained attention across social media. The clip showed Lewis delivering a body shot to a willing fan, who appeared to be receiving the moment as part of a birthday celebration.
Fan Takes the Shot and Pays the Price
The heavyweight contender appeared to hold back on the punch, but the impact was still enough to fold the fan almost instantly.
After absorbing the shot, the man dropped to the ground and struggled to regain his composure. Friends nearby quickly stepped in to help him back to his feet.
Despite the obvious discomfort, the fan seemed to take the moment in stride. Once he recovered, he was smiling and laughing along with everyone else.
The video also captured a reaction from someone off camera, who could be heard shouting, “He can’t breathe! He can’t breathe!”
That comment only added to the humor of a clip that MMA fans quickly embraced online.
Lewis Set for Return at UFC White House
While Lewis was entertaining fans outside of competition, his attention will soon shift back to business.
The veteran knockout artist is scheduled to return to action on June 14 at UFC White House. Standing across from him will be undefeated heavyweight Josh Hokit.
Lewis remains one of the division’s most dangerous finishers, and he will look to add another highlight-reel moment when he steps back into the cage later this month.
