Gabriel Bonfim delivered a career-best performance at UFC Vegas 118 on Saturday night, beating former champion Belal Muhammad via unanimous decision.
Bonfim controlled the fight with steady pressure, sharp counters, and consistent damage across all five rounds.
Bonfim’s Striking Sets the Tone
Muhammad started strong, landing an early 3-2 as he stepped into range. But Bonfim quickly settled in. He answered with body kicks and began timing Muhammad’s entries.
As the opening round progressed, Bonfim’s counters became cleaner and more damaging. He finished the round landing the heavier shots while forcing Muhammad to work under pressure.
Former Champion Overwhelmed by Volume
Muhammad tried to adjust in the middle rounds with low kicks and pocket exchanges. He also attempted to bring wrestling into the fight, but Bonfim shut down most of those entries.
Bonfim’s leg kicks and straight punches continued to pile up damage. By the second round, Muhammad’s face was marked up, and his lead leg was visibly affected.
Even as Muhammad pushed forward late, Bonfim remained sharp. He maintained distance, landed cleaner shots, and never allowed the former champion to build momentum.
The final rounds followed the same pattern. Muhammad pressed, but Bonfim consistently won the exchanges and controlled the pace to the final horn.
In the post-fight interview, Bonfim made clear he wants Jack Della Maddalena for his next fight.
“JDM, stay ready. You’re right there, you’re my next opponent… You’re next.”
