Josh Emmett appears ready to make a major change as he looks to snap his recent losing skid. The longtime UFC featherweight says his next fight could come at lightweight later this year.

Emmett targets move back to 155 pounds

Emmett revealed to MMA Fighting that he expects to return between October and early December and believes the difficult weight cut to 145 pounds has affected his performances.

“I’m enjoying some things that I’ve wanted to do for a while, so I’m doing that right now. Maybe anywhere from October to early December and I might go back up to 155.”

“I think my next fight, you guys will see me back at lightweight.”

The 41-year-old is currently on a three-fight losing streak and most recently suffered a first-round loss to Kevin Vallejos in March.

Open to wrestling opportunities

Aside from MMA, Emmett also expressed interest in competing under Real American Freestyle (RAF), saying he would welcome the opportunity to return to his wrestling roots.

“If you could tell me that I would get paid to do a wrestling match, a six- or seven-minute wrestling match, I would do it all day, and not get punched in the face?”

“Now, if I could go wrestle on a big stage, and RAF is doing some amazing things for the sport of wrestling…  Yeah, sign me up!”
