Max Holloway is focused on getting revenge against Conor McGregor at UFC 329, but he is already thinking beyond a single fight.
The former featherweight champion believes a victory on Saturday could set up another meeting with McGregor before the year is over. The two first fought in 2013, with McGregor earning a unanimous decision win early in both fighters’ UFC careers.
Holloway Wants McGregor to Come Back for More
Speaking during UFC 329 media day, Holloway joked that he doesn’t want to completely discourage McGregor from competing again.
“I’m going in there and put paws on him.”
“I’m going to make him wish that he didn’t come back—actually no, I’m not going to make him wish that. I’m going to make him think that he can do it one more time so we can rematch at the end of the year.”
A win over McGregor would be one of the biggest victories of Holloway’s career and could create demand for a trilogy bout between the two stars.
Holloway Expects the Best Version of McGregor
Despite concerns from fans about McGregor’s five-year layoff and age, Holloway is not overlooking his opponent.
“That’s crazy talk.”
“A lot of fans are counting Conor out, which is crazy.”
“So I’m getting ready for the most dangerous Conor McGregor we ever saw and nobody’s telling me otherwise.”
Holloway said McGregor appears to be doing everything necessary to prepare for a successful return, and he expects a motivated version of the former two-division champion when they meet in the UFC 329 main event.
