The UFC has added another accomplished name to its lightweight division, signing former KSW champion Salahdine Parnasse and immediately placing him in a main event.
The French standout will make his Octagon debut against veteran contender Dan Hooker in the headline bout of UFC Fight Night 287 on Sept. 5 in Paris. The announcement was made during Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 282 broadcast.
Parnasse Gets a Massive Opportunity in His Debut
Parnasse arrives in the UFC with an impressive 23-2 professional record and a reputation as one of Europe’s top mixed martial artists.
The 28-year-old closed out his KSW career with a first-round knockout of Kenneth Cross at MVP MMA on Netflix in May. That victory capped a successful 16-fight run with the promotion, where he captured the lightweight title and defended it four times.
Instead of easing him into the UFC roster, the promotion has handed Parnasse a five-round main event in front of his home crowd, giving him an immediate chance to prove he belongs among the division’s elite.
Hooker Looks to Snap Losing Streak
Standing across from Parnasse will be one of the UFC’s most experienced lightweights.
Hooker enters the matchup looking to halt a difficult stretch after back-to-back stoppage losses to Benoit Saint Denis and Arman Tsarukyan. The New Zealand veteran has not recorded a victory since edging Mateusz Gamrot by split decision at UFC 305 in August 2024.
Despite the recent setbacks, Hooker’s experience against top-ranked opposition makes him a dangerous first test for the UFC newcomer.
The five-round clash gives Parnasse an immediate opportunity to make a statement, while Hooker will be aiming to spoil the French star’s debut in front of the Paris crowd.
