Paulo Costa has pushed back after Jiri Prochazka claimed the UFC offered the Brazilian a light heavyweight fight scheduled for later this year. The two ranked contenders exchanged comments on social media after Prochazka suggested Costa was already presented with a bout agreement for October or November.
Prochazka Says UFC Sent Offer
Prochazka took to Instagram to address Costa directly, insisting the UFC had already made the matchup proposal.
“Don’t tag me, don’t mention me in your posts because you have an offer from UFC to fight me in October or November… I’m waiting for the contract for this fight.”
The former UFC light heavyweight champion made it clear he is ready to move forward with the matchup and is awaiting a signed agreement.
Costa Denies Receiving Any Offer
Costa quickly responded on X, disputing Prochazka’s claim and saying he has not been contacted about any fight involving the Czech star.
“EVERYONE wants to fight me because I’m THE GUY in this boring division.”
“But the TRUTH is: so far, nobody has mentioned your name to me. So go back to doing that weird thing of yours.”
The conflicting accounts have left the potential matchup uncertain for now.
Both Fighters Coming Off Recent UFC Bouts
Prochazka enters the discussion following a technical knockout loss to Carlos Ulberg at UFC 327 in April, dropping his professional record to 32-6-1.
Costa, meanwhile, is coming off a highlight-reel victory, scoring a head-kick knockout over Azamat Murzakanov at the same event to improve to 16-4.
While no official booking has been announced, a Prochazka vs. Costa matchup would pit two high-profile light heavyweights against each other in a significant divisional clash.
