Jack Della Maddalena’s recent loss to Carlos Prates at UFC 329 has clearly taken a toll on him. The Australian fighter was seen looking sad, disheartened, and completely drained in a recent video that surfaced online.
On the Wrong End of a Beatdown
Jack Della Maddalena recently fought against rising prospect Carlos Prates at UFC Fight Night Australia. The night ended poorly for Della Maddalena after he suffered his second consecutive defeat.
He was finished in the third round of his fight against Prates, who looked flawless. The Aussie looked of place and never found his rhythm. Prates put an absolute beatdown on the former champion, leaving him bloodied and battered.
This loss has now put the Aussie in a difficult spot and surely out of the title picture. After all, the reigning champion, Islam Machachev, defeated Maddalena comfortably in a lopsided decision.

Jack Della Madalena Looks Dejected in Recent Video
But what is concerning is Jack Della Maddalena’s demeanor after the fight. In a video posted by fellow UFC fighter Tai Tuivasa, Jack Della Maddalena after loss, was seen sitting quietly, visibly upset and not in good spirits.
Fans even mocked them, saying Maddalena should not be hanging out with Tuivasa and that it was a losers’ party, as even the heavyweight lost his bout on the same night.
What’s Next for Jack Della Maddalena?
Now the big question arises: what could be next for the Aussie? Before his recent loss, he was ranked No. 1, but now he has been dropped to the No. 4 spot in the UFC welterweight rankings. He would need a series of convincing victories in order to return to the title picture, otherwise the UFC will reduce him to gatekeeper status.
Considering him being low on confidence, his next possible fight should be against someone who is a top-level fighter but not in great form as well. This puts him in a good matchup against fellow former champions Belal Muhammad and Leon Edwards.
Jack already has a win over Belal, and his matchup against Edwards could be good considering both are strikers. A win over someone like them, who are former champions as well, can boost his confidence and set him up for another title run.
More likely, however, the UFC will use him to build the name of an up-and-coming prospect. Who would you like to see him fight next?
