You might think that AI has no part to play in combat sports, but… the UFC has found a way.
Apparently, their entire UFC White House promo was made with AI.
UFC Executive Confirms AI Use in Content Creation
This entire fiasco started after a reporter asked UFC president Dana White about AI usage. In predictable Dana White fashion, he suggested that fans should “shut the F*** up and keep watching the fights”.
Later the UFC’s Chief Content Officer Craig Borsari confirmed they will continue to use AI for content creation.
“Well, I think AI affords production groups when it comes to storytelling, it affords us some tools that, maybe, we wouldn’t be able to implement, or be as efficient with in the past,”
Borsari told NY Post Sports.
“The way we look at AI is not a substitute for content creation, but rather a way to amplify it.”
“It’s no different than maybe using a green screen or doing other things that we’ve done over the years,” the executive said. “It’s another tool in the toolbox.”
UFC president dana white also backed these statements.
“People can say whatever they want,” White said. “We’re always going to keep pushing forward and doing what’s best for the business.”
This promo was made entirely with AI!
The UFC Freedom promo was made entirely with AI:
Josh Hokit Responds to AI Buzz
The UFC AI buzz again got pushed this past week at UFC Fight Night Australia. Fans again complained that the videos of fighters for the “tale of the tapes” looked AI-generated, and were not doing justice to previous UFC work.
UFC heavyweight Jos Hokit jumped into the mess in a humorous way, assuring the fans that his fight, at least, was 100% real.
“That wasn’t AI,” Hokit said. “That was literally me standing there like an idiot for 30 seconds.”
Could this be a new business model for the UFC?
Fans are now speculating what could be the next move of the UFC using AI. With a slew of AI-generated fights popping up on social media these days, could we see the UFC producing its own AI-fights? In any case, it would save them a lot of money on fighter pay.
