Yoel Romero Breaks Man’s Jaw in Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA

At 49, Yoel Romero is still dominating combat sports. His latest fight at Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA marked his third appearance in combat sports in 2026.

A combat sports career for the ages

Romero’s career in the sport stretched for decades. Even before his MMA run, he built an elite wrestling legacy. He earned multiple international medals. That includes a silver medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

His UFC stint for 7 years cemented his reputation as a dangerous fighter. He just came up short when he challenged and faced off prime Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title back in 2020.

Earlier in March, he stepped into bareknuckle boxing against Vagab Vagabov. However, that fight ended in a controversial decision loss.

He also came back to his roots, wrestling. Competing under the RAF banner, Romero faced Stephen Buchanan and was defeated via technical fall.

Total destruction in Bareknuckle MMA

Competing in the Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA main event last Friday, Romero stopped Alex Nicholson with a punishing ground attack.

Romero took Alex down with ease and from there, the finish came quickly. Multiple heavy shots sent Nicholson to surrender due to the strikes. Alex Nicholson was left with a broken jaw.
