Bo Nickal believes a UFC middleweight title opportunity is only a matter of time.

The former three-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion returns at UFC Freedom 250 on June 14, where he faces Kyle Daukaus on the historic card taking place at the White House’s South Lawn.

Nickal rebounded from the first loss of his MMA career to Reinier de Ridder with a knockout win at UFC 322, reigniting talks of his championship potential.

In an interview with UFC Paramount +, Nickal made his intentions clear to Chael Sonnen.

When Chael suggested he should go for the middleweight championship, Nickal said:

“I agree. I think I’m ready to go,”

“I think I’m training with the best guys in the world. I know where I’m at sparring with guys at American Top Team, and I’m proving it to myself there that I’m ready to compete at that level.”

“I think that it is just a matter of time. I’m going to do my thing.”

Daukaus Comes First

Despite Nickal’s confidence, the middleweight division remains crowded and he is currently unranked. More importantly, he still has to get past a surging Daukaus, who has impressed since returning to the UFC last year.
