Jan Blachowicz is officially back on the UFC schedule.
After a knee injury forced the former light heavyweight champion out of his planned rematch with Bogdan Guskov earlier this year, the bout has now been rescheduled for UFC Fight Night 283. The event is set to take place Aug. 1 at Belgrade Arena, marking the UFC’s first trip to Serbia.
Blachowicz enters the matchup looking to snap a lengthy stretch without a victory. The Polish veteran has not recorded a win since 2022 and has faced a difficult run against some of the division’s top names.
Blachowicz Looking to Rebuild Momentum
The 43-year-old captured UFC gold in 2020 when he defeated Dominick Reyes for the vacant light heavyweight title. He later defended the belt against former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya before dropping it to Glover Teixeira the following year.
Since then, Blachowicz has remained in the title conversation but has struggled to put together another winning streak. A victory over Aleksandar Rakic earned him a shot at the vacant championship against Magomed Ankalaev, but that fight ended in a draw.
More recently, Blachowicz suffered losses to Alex Pereira and current champion Carlos Ulberg. He then fought Guskov to a draw at UFC 323 last December before injury delayed their rematch.
Guskov Chasing the Biggest Win of His Career
For Guskov, the rematch presents another opportunity to secure the most significant victory of his UFC tenure.
The 33-year-old had built a four-fight winning streak before meeting Blachowicz, with every win coming by stoppage. During that run, he earned bonus-winning finishes against Zac Pauga and Ryan Spann and later scored a first-round stoppage of Nikita Krylov.
The draw with Blachowicz halted his momentum, but it also showed he could compete with one of the division’s most accomplished veterans.
Now, with both men eager to move forward in the crowded light heavyweight rankings, they will finally settle unfinished business when the UFC arrives in Belgrade this summer.
