Joe Lauzon is preparing for another chapter in his comabat sports career. The longtime UFC veteran has officially signed with BKFC and will make his promotional debut later this summer in front of his hometown fans.

The 42-year-old Massachusetts native is scheduled to compete at BKFC 92 on Aug. 29, with the event taking place at the iconic Fenway Park in Boston.

Lauzon eager to compete at Fenway Park

Lauzon said in a release that the opportunity to fight inside one of baseball’s most famous venues was the biggest reason he accepted the offer.

“The thing that got me really excited was fighting at Fenway Park,”

He reflected on his previous appearances in Boston while explaining why this event stands out.

“I’ve fought in Boston before and I fought at TD Garden, but there’s something special about competing on the field at Fenway. I grew up a Red Sox fan, played baseball as a kid, and watched the Red Sox win the World Series while I was in college. To have the chance to fight there is pretty incredible.”

Lauzon also expects another strong turnout from the local crowd.

“Boston has always shown up for me. Every time I’ve fought there, my friends, family, and supporters have packed the building. I can’t wait to experience that again.”

BKFC has not yet announced who will welcome Lauzon in his promotional debut.

A new chapter for the UFC legend

The former UFC lightweight has not fought since October 2019, when he stopped Jonathan Pearce by TKO just 93 seconds into their bout at UFC Boston. After that victory, Lauzon was booked to face Donald Cerrone three different times, but each matchup was canceled before it could happen.

Lauzon built a memorable UFC career across 27 appearances after first gaining attention on Season 5 of The Ultimate Fighter. He also delivered one of the promotion’s most memorable debuts in 2006, knocking out former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver in just 48 seconds at UFC 63.
