Magomedov is one of the most unique kickboxers in the UFC.

Outside of that loss, Magomedov has looked outstanding.

His athleticism allows him to explode with flying knees, spinning attacks, and creative combinations that few opponents can prepare for. He’s also an underrated grappler with dangerous submission skills. That may be his biggest opportunity here.
Magomedov has shown defensive wrestling vulnerabilities before, and Pereira has the physical strength and jiu-jitsu to capitalize if he can secure early takedowns.
The concern is whether he can consistently implement that game plan. Too often Pereira falls back into wild striking exchanges, and against someone as disciplined as Magomedov, that could prove costly.

Pereira certainly has paths to victory.If he commits to wrestling and forces Magomedov onto his back, his submission game could make things very interesting.
The problem is I don’t think that’s what happens. Instead, I expect Pereira to spend too much time striking with one of the best kickboxers in the division.
Magomedov should enjoy advantages in pace, cardio, kicking variety, and overall technical consistency. Pereira may have success early with his explosiveness, but as the fight progresses, I expect Shara to systematically break him down with body kicks and leg attacks while controlling the distance.
A late stoppage wouldn’t surprise me if Pereira’s gas tank fades, but I think his durability allows him to hear the final horn.
