Former UFC flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja says he is fully recovered and eager to return to the Octagon, with his sights set on a rematch against reigning champion Joshua Van.

Pantoja Ready for Another Shot

Pantoja has been sidelined since December after suffering an arm injury just seconds into his title defense against Van at UFC 323. The injury forced him out of action while Van went on to defend the flyweight belt with a fifth round stoppage win over Tatsuro Taira at UFC 328.

Now healthy, Pantoja says MMA Fighting that he is ready to fight again.

“I’m ready.”

“After December, what happened to my arm, two days after that, I went to the gym, started training with just one arm.”

“I want to take the belt again. I want to be UFC champion one more time.”

Former Champion Wants to Settle the Score

Pantoja praised Van’s performance against Taira and believes the flyweight division is stronger than ever. He also pointed to standout wins by Manel Kape and Brandon Royval as proof that the weight class continues to deliver exciting fights.

While Kape has called for a title shot after knocking out Kyoji Horiguchi, Pantoja believes he deserves the next opportunity.

“Beautiful performance.”

“Manel Kape, for me, is one of the most dangerous fights in the world in flyweight.”

Still, Pantoja’s main focus remains reclaiming the title from Van.

“Of course, I have unfinished business with Joshua Van.”

“Like, as an athlete, I know I lost the fight. That happened. But like a man, I don’t think he beat me.”

“I’m still here. I’m ready to fight. I’m in amazing shape. Let’s see what happens next.”
