Magomed Zaynukov’s long-awaited UFC debut left a strong impression across the MMA world, including one of the promotion’s biggest voices. Although Joe Rogan was not part of the broadcast team in Abu Dhabi, he still made sure to watch the event and came away impressed with the undefeated Russian lightweight.

Zaynukov opened his UFC career with a unanimous decision victory over Damian Rzepecki at Etihad Arena, extending his winning streak to nine fights.

Zaynukov’s performance earned praise from fans and fellow fighters, despite Khabib Nurmagomedov pointing out areas that still need improvement.

Joe Rogan also had plenty of positive things to say after watching the card. According to UFC play-by-play commentator Jon Anik, Rogan sent a message to their broadcast group praising the Russian prospect.

“I thought this was a real standout performance.”

“‘This kid is an absolute beast’.”

“The elbows and everything else. Long range weapons. Confidence. Conditioning. Just a tremendous performance.”

Strong striking shines in UFC debut

While Rzepecki enjoyed success with his wrestling, controlling Zaynukov for more than five minutes during the fight, the Russian made the most of every striking exchange.

Zaynukov consistently punished his opponent at range and finished the contest with a commanding 74-16 advantage in significant strikes. His striking accuracy and composure helped secure a unanimous decision in his first Octagon appearance.

The 31-year-old also continued the momentum he built after earning a UFC contract with a victory over Lucas Caldas on Dana White’s Contender Series last October.
