Paddy Pimblett is already looking ahead after his dominant performance at UFC 329.
The Liverpool native rebounded from his interim lightweight title loss to Justin Gaethje with a quick submission victory over Benoit Saint Denis in the co-main event at T-Mobile Arena. While fans immediately began discussing potential opponents, Pimblett made it clear that his focus remains on one goal: becoming UFC champion.
Pimblett focused on championship dream
Speaking after the event, Pimblett said the name across from him matters less than the destination he is chasing.
“I want to be a world champion.”
“I want to be the undisputed champion of the world. I want to be the first-ever world champion from Liverpool, and I’m going to do that.”
Pimblett believes a UFC title is inevitable, regardless of how many fights it takes to get there.
“I know that’s in my destiny. I know it’s in my fate.”
Unbothered by doubters
Pimblett entered UFC 329 as an underdog against Saint Denis, with many predicting the French contender would hand him another setback.
Instead, he delivered one of the quickest finishes of the night and remained unfazed by the criticism that has followed him throughout his UFC career.
“Yeah, the goalposts will get moved.”
“Everyone will say, ‘Huh, BSD was sh*t anyway.’ You know what I mean? When two days ago it was, ‘BSD, he’s going to smash Paddy.’”
According to Pimblett, opinions about him change after every win, but it has never affected his confidence.
“I don’t give a f*ck.”
“As long as I keep winning, I keep getting paid and keep making steps toward being a world champion.”
“You can say what you want… Simple.”
