Conor McGregor finally addressed the stunning end to his UFC 329 return, pushing back against claims that he entered the fight with an existing injury.

The former two-division UFC champion suffered a serious setback just moments into his rematch with Max Holloway. A knee injury on his opening kick ended his comeback bid and handed Holloway the victory in the main event. McGregor left the arena immediately after the fight and skipped both the post-fight interview and media conference, fueling speculation about what had happened behind the scenes.

McGregor says injury came out of nowhere

Several hours after the loss, McGregor shared a message on social media, insisting he was fully healthy before stepping into the Octagon.

“My head gasket is gone. Destroyed.”

The Irish star admitted he is struggling to process the result after spending years preparing for his long-awaited return.

“I can only describe it as hell.”

Comeback plans remain intact

Despite the heartbreaking finish, McGregor made it clear that retirement is not on his mind.

He dismissed online theories suggesting he looked physically compromised before the bout and maintained that he felt prepared when he made the walk to the cage.

“I was calm, ready, and confident. I am in shock what has taken place.”

The former champion also revealed how he plans to deal with the setback.

“The devil is literally staring at me right in front of my face here.”

“I will return.”
