Tommy McMillen delivered the biggest performance of his young UFC career on Saturday night, overwhelming Alberto Montes with a relentless striking attack to earn a third-round TKO victory at UFC Oklahoma inside Paycom Center.
Heated Rivalry Carries Into the Cage
Their matchup had generated plenty of buzz throughout fight week after tensions boiled over during Friday’s weigh-ins. The animosity between the two featherweights only added to the anticipation surrounding McMillen’s return, especially with the rising prospect continuing to train alongside former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley.
When the cage door closed, McMillen quickly turned the spotlight into a showcase of his offensive arsenal.
McMillen Overwhelms Montes With Nonstop Offense
McMillen maintained a relentless pace from the opening bell, attacking with combinations from the outside before mixing in body shots, elbows, knees, and powerful uppercuts. Montes refused to back down and had moments of success, including multiple knockdowns that tested McMillen’s composure.
Still, McMillen never slowed. He poured on the pressure and unleashed more than 500 total strikes as the fight entered the third round, leaving Montes under constant fire.
Montes somehow stayed on his feet through the barrage, but the punishment eventually became too much. Seeing no sign that the assault was slowing down, the referee stepped in late in the third round to award McMillen the TKO victory.
