Conor McGregor wasted no time reacting to Nate Diaz’s brutal loss to Mike Perry at MVP MMA: Rousey vs. Carano.
Diaz returned to MMA for the first time in nearly four years but endured a rough night against Perry, who repeatedly opened cuts on Diaz’s face before the fight was stopped after the second round.
The bout ended when Diaz’s corner stepped in as blood continued pouring into his eyes, leaving him unable to properly defend himself.
Conor McGregor reacts to Nate Diaz defeat
Just hours after the UFC announced McGregor’s comeback fight against Max Holloway for UFC 329, the former two-division champion turned his attention toward Diaz on social media.
McGregor and Diaz famously split two fights in the UFC during their rivalry in 2016. A trilogy fight had been rumored for months before Diaz instead signed to face Perry under the MVP MMA banner.
Following Diaz’s stoppage loss, McGregor mocked his longtime rival in a post on X.
“I see why @NateDiaz209 didn’t take the fight lol. Anyway here’s to when I get my hands on you, you lanky streak of piss.”
The rivalry between McGregor and Diaz remains one of the most memorable in UFC history. Nate Diaz handed Conor McGregor his first UFC defeat at UFC 196, but McGregor later got revenge by edging out a decision win in their rematch later that year.
Nate Diaz battered by Mike Perry in Netflix main card
Perry controlled much of the action during the co-main event and punished Diaz with heavy punches throughout the fight.
The damage quickly became visible as Diaz suffered multiple cuts across his face. By the end of the second round, the cageside area around Diaz was covered in blood, forcing his corner to stop the contest.
The defeat raises questions about Diaz’s immediate future in MMA, especially after such a long layoff from the sport.
Conor McGregor set for Max Holloway rematch
While Diaz deals with the fallout from the Perry fight, McGregor is preparing for his return at UFC 329 on July 11.
The Irish star is scheduled to face Holloway in a rematch more than a decade after their first meeting in 2013. Despite tearing his ACL during the fight, Conor McGregor still managed to earn a unanimous decision victory.
The rematch will take place at welterweight, marking Holloway’s first appearance at 170 pounds. Early betting odds have favored Holloway, though McGregor’s power at the heavier weight class remains a major talking point heading into the event.
