Ateba Gautier kept his unbeaten UFC run alive with another violent finish at UFC 328. He mauled Ozzy Diaz in just two rounds.
The middleweight prospect entered the fight with momentum and left with even more attention after another dominant performance.
Easy KO win
Diaz showed toughness early and forced Gautier to stay patient through the opening round. Gautier avoided unnecessary risks and gradually found his timing while stalking forward.
The finish came quickly once he connected.
Early in the second round, Gautier uncorked a heavy overhand right that dropped Diaz to the canvas. He immediately followed with the ground-and-pound style, forcing the referee to stop the fight.
Gautier is on a 5-fight winning streak inside the UFC and extended his overall record to 11-1.
Gautier Targets Israel Adesanya
With the win, Gautier tied Khamzat Chimaev and Nassourdine Imavov for the longest active winning streak in the UFC middleweight division.
After the stoppage, Gautier turned his attention toward former champion Israel Adesanya during his post-fight interview inside the cage.
The callout marked the biggest name Gautier has targeted since joining the UFC, and it added another layer to an already crowded middleweight division following the results at UFC 328.
