Dustin Poirier Reveals Bud Light Ended Sponsorship After Arrest

Dustin Poirier says the fallout from his June arrest has already extended beyond the courtroom, with one of his biggest sponsorships coming to an abrupt end.

The former UFC interim lightweight champion confirmed that Bud Light immediately terminated its partnership with him following his arrest at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on June 21. Poirier shared the update during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show.

Poirier Confirms Immediate End to Sponsorship

Rumors about Poirier losing a major sponsor had circulated after UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland mentioned it publicly. On Tuesday, Poirier told The Ariel Helwani Show that Bud Light as the company that ended the deal.

“They terminated my contract immediately.”

“… It’s all good, man.”

While Poirier has accepted the decision, he admitted the financial impact will be felt by his family.

“It sucks that my family loses out on the money I had left on the deal with them, which was a few hundred thousand dollars.”

Former UFC Star Opens Up About Alcohol Struggles

Since the incident, Poirier has spoken candidly about his ongoing battle with alcohol. He revealed that his drinking issues resurfaced after retiring from professional MMA in July 2025.

Poirier said he has sought help following the arrest and has publicly apologized for his actions. Police body camera footage from the incident showed him arguing with flight attendants and challenging a responding officer to a fight.

Reflecting on his relationship with alcohol, Poirier acknowledged that responsible drinking is possible for many people, but believes it is not something he can manage.

“There are plenty of people out there who do drink responsibly.” 

“I’m not one.”

“If you can drink responsibly, have fun.” 

“I’m not that person.”
