In spite of bugs, controversy, and even lawsuits, UFC has officially brought the Octagon to the White House South Lawn.

The setup is already in place, and production crews are racing to finish preparations for UFC Freedom 250. This will be a seven-fight event headlined by a lightweight title clash and a heavyweight interim championship bout.

UFC prepares for unpredictable outdoor conditions

The UFCโ€™s production team has been working around the clock as it finalizes one of the most unusual venues in promotion history.

Dana White and his crew are managing the logistics of staging an outdoor Octagon at the White House, where weather could play a major role in how the event unfolds.

UFC Chief Content Officer Craig Borsari explained that the promotion is preparing for rain or shifting conditions on fight night.

โ€œIf we have light to moderate rain with no lightning, weโ€™re going to try to push forward.โ€

He added that parts of the seating area could still be exposed depending on conditions inside the 100-foot canopy structure.

Weather contingency plans in place

The UFC has also built backup plans into the broadcast schedule in case storms disrupt the card. A pause in action remains possible if conditions become unsafe, with hopes that any stoppage would be temporary rather than a full cancellation.

Borsari noted that the team is prepared for adjustments if needed, including potential interruptions during live broadcast coverage.

Historic card set for South Lawn

The event features a lightweight title unification fight between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje (see our predictions of that here). Meanwhile Alex Pereira faces Ciryl Gane, for a shot at becoming the promotions first ever triple-champ (here are our predictions for that).

The UFC is covering the production costs for the White House event, with White previously acknowledging the promotion expects a financial loss in exchange for the historic showcase.

President Donald Trump has also suggested the structure could remain on the South Lawn beyond fight week.
