Aleksandar Rakić vs. Marcin Tybura Odds

Odds: Rakić -340 (1.29) | Tybura +270 (3.70)

The UFC odds has been one-way traffic toward Rakić. He opened around -250, but bettors quickly backed the Serbian, driving the line as high as -340. Tybura drifted from roughly +210 to +270, showing strong confidence that Rakić’s athletic advantages will immediately translate to heavyweight.

This is probably due to three things:

  • Rakić will be the faster, more explosive athlete.
  • His recent losses came against far superior competition.
  • Fighting in Belgrade gives him a significant hometown advantage.
  • Marcin Tybura is 40 and has lost 2 in a row.

Rakić’s speed should be the difference

Rakić enters on a four-fight losing streak, but the record doesn’t tell the full story. His defeats came against elite light heavyweight competition, including Jan Błachowicz, Jiří Procházka, Magomed Ankalaev, and Azamat Murzakanov. Rather than being outclassed by average opponents, he has consistently faced championship-level fighters.

Moving up a weight class always brings uncertainty, but stylistically this looks like an excellent debut for Rakić. Throughout his light heavyweight career, Rakić has performed best against slower opponents who struggle to match his footwork and long-range striking. His recent losses came against unusually mobile and athletic fighters like Procházka, Ankalaev and Murzakanov, all of whom could neutralize his biggest weapons.

Tybura may be slowing down at 40

Tybura is durable and experienced, but he has never been known for his speed. At 40 years old, he has become increasingly methodical, relying on pressure and grappling rather than athleticism. If he cannot consistently force clinches or takedowns, he is likely to spend long stretches eating jabs, calf kicks and straight right hands.

The biggest unknown is Rakić’s ability to deal with true heavyweight wrestling. Tybura has the physical strength to create problems from top position if he gets there. However, getting Rakić down consistently is another matter entirely.

Can Tybura take Rakić down?

One of the biggest unknowns heading into this fight is Rakić’s takedown defense against a true heavyweight. We simply haven’t seen him spend much time grappling off his back during his UFC career, leaving questions about how he’ll handle Tybura’s wrestling.

However, if Rakić can use his superior footwork, lateral movement and range management to keep the fight standing, Tybura’s biggest path to victory becomes much harder to execute. As long as the fight remains at striking distance, the speed advantage swings heavily in Rakić’s favor.

Keys to victory

Aleksandar Rakić

  • Stay behind the jab and use his speed advantage.
  • Attack Tybura’s legs and avoid extended clinch exchanges.
  • Keep the fight at kickboxing range where his movement shines.

Marcin Tybura

  • Close the distance early and force clinch battles.
  • Test Rakić’s heavyweight grappling and cardio.
  • Make the fight ugly by leaning on him against the fence.

Rakić vs. Tybura Prediction

Rakić has the cleaner striking, better movement and should be the fresher athlete throughout the fight. Tybura’s grappling gives him a path to victory, but he may struggle to consistently close the distance against a mobile opponent making his heavyweight debut. Expect Rakić to stay disciplined, use his superior movement and outstrike Tybura over three rounds in front of an energized Serbian crowd.
