Duško Todorović vs. Robert Valentin Odds

UFC Odds: Todorović +140 (2.40) | Valentin -170 (1.59)

Oddsmakers have installed Valentin as a moderate favorite, and the line has remained relatively stable throughout fight week. Despite Todorović fighting in his home country, UFC bettors continue to side with the Swiss prospect.

This is likely because:

  • Valentin is viewed as the more dangerous finisher.
  • Todorović has struggled with durability throughout his UFC career.
  • Valentin owns the edge in submission grappling.
  • Todorović’s recent win came against limited opposition.

A fascinating grappling matchup

This fight will likely be close. Todorović probably has the better wrestling, while Valentin possesses the more dangerous jiu-jitsu. That creates an interesting dynamic where neither man should have a dominant advantage on the mat. Even if Todorović secures takedowns, Valentin is extremely active off his back and constantly threatens reversals and submissions. We’ve also never seen Todorović submitted in the UFC, making it difficult to confidently predict Valentin finds another finish on the ground. Dusko will have one advantage at least, which will he his hometown crowd.

Valentin carries the bigger weapons

While the grappling battle feels fairly even, the striking slightly favors Valentin. He throws with more power, has better hand speed and generally looks more dangerous during exchanges. Todorović has cleaned up some of the reckless habits that plagued him earlier in his UFC career, but his defensive lapses still appear whenever fights become prolonged or chaotic. That’s a dangerous combination against someone like Valentin, who has shown he only needs one opening to change a fight. Valentin says he will submit his opponent in the first, though that might be a tall order.

Can Todorović’s wrestling neutralize Valentin?

Todorović’s clearest path to victory is using his wrestling to bank rounds. The Serbian has far more UFC experience than Valentin and has shared the cage with far tougher opposition, including Gregory Rodrigues, Christian Leroy Duncan and Mansur Abdul-Malik. Even in defeat, those fights have given him valuable experience that Valentin simply doesn’t have yet.

However, wrestling alone may not be enough. Valentin’s submission game makes prolonged top control difficult, and every scramble creates opportunities for the Swiss fighter to reverse position or return the fight to the feet. If the fight spends extended periods striking, the advantage swings back toward Valentin.

Keys to victory

Duško Todorović

  • Mix wrestling into every round.
  • Stay disciplined defensively during striking exchanges.
  • Control position instead of chasing submissions.

Robert Valentin

  • Keep punishing Todorović with leg kicks and combinations.
  • Attack submissions whenever Todorović shoots.
  • Force striking exchanges late in each round.

Todorović vs. Valentin Prediction

This is one of those fights that can go either way. Todorović’s experience and wrestling keep him competitive throughout, especially with the Serbian crowd behind him. But Valentin is simply the more dangerous fighter everywhere the contest takes place. His striking carries more power, his submission game creates constant threats, and I trust his durability far more at this stage of their careers.

Expect a competitive fight with plenty of grappling scrambles before Valentin gradually pulls ahead with the cleaner striking over fifteen minutes. I would also not be surprised is Valentin can pull off a submission if Duško gets tired from attempting too many takedowns.
