Two undefeated prospects collide when Magomed Zaynukov makes his UFC debut against former FEN lightweight champion Damian Rzepecki. On paper, this looks like another showcase for a highly touted Dagestani prospect, but after watching tape on both men, I think this fight is much more competitive than the UFC odds suggest. Here is my Magomed Zaynukov vs. Damian Rzepecki prediction.
When I first saw the matchup, I expected the UFC to give Zaynukov a softer introduction to the Octagon. Instead, they matched him with another unbeaten fighter who’s already proven himself on the European regional scene. That immediately caught my attention. The more I watched Rzepecki, the more I respected what he brings to the table. I still think Zaynukov wins, but I don’t think this is the walkover many people expect.

Magomed Zaynukov vs. Damian Rzepecki odds: Are bettors overlooking the underdog?
Magomed Zaynukov -330 (1.30) | Damian Rzepecki +260 (3.60)
The UFC betting line heavily favors Zaynukov, and that’s understandable. He trains alongside Islam Makhachev, won his UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series, and carries the reputation that comes with Team Abdulmanap. Fighters from that camp have earned the benefit of the doubt over the years.
But I also think Rzepecki deserves more respect. He’s also undefeated, at 10-0, owns victories by knockout and submission, and enters this fight after capturing regional gold in Poland. More importantly, he’s trained alongside UFC champion Ilia Topuria, giving him experience working with elite-level competition. This isn’t a veteran brought in to lose, but another legitimate prospect.
Why Rzepecki is a tougher matchup than people realize
Watching Rzepecki’s tape, one thing stood out immediately. He’s a complete mixed martial artist. He switches stances comfortably, throws with power, mixes his attacks well and has dangerous submission skills whenever the fight hits the mat. Unlike many regional champions who rely heavily on one area of the game, Rzepecki looks comfortable everywhere.
That’s why I think this matchup is tricky. Normally, when the UFC debuts a hyped prospect, the opponent has a clear weakness that the favorite can exploit. I don’t really see that here. Rzepecki looks technically sound, carries confidence into the cage, and doesn’t appear intimidated by the moment.
Why Zaynukov’s striking is what separates him
Even with all that said, I still believe Zaynukov is the better fighter. His performance on Dana White’s Contender Series convinced me he belongs in the UFC. The volume he maintained over three rounds was remarkable, constantly attacking the legs, body and head without slowing down. He fights with a Muay Thai-heavy style that’s aggressive, varied and incredibly entertaining to watch.
What also impresses me is his willingness to throw in combination. He’s not the stereotypical Dagestani wrestler looking to grind opponents against the fence. His striking is his biggest weapon, and he uses his kicks exceptionally well to build offense. If he mixes in the occasional takedown, it’s usually to keep opponents guessing rather than control entire rounds. With a record of 8-0, it is clear that the UFC sees star potential in him.
Could Rzepecki find success with his boxing?
If there’s one area where I think Rzepecki could have success, it’s inside the boxing exchanges. Zaynukov occasionally leaves openings defensively when he commits to combinations, and Muay Thai specialists don’t always have the same defensive boxing habits as pure boxers.
Rzepecki throws straight punches well, shifts forward effectively and has enough power to make Zaynukov respect him. I wouldn’t be shocked if he lands several clean shots throughout the fight. The question is whether he can consistently match Zaynukov’s pace.
Why I think Zaynukov’s output wins the fight
Ultimately, I keep coming back to activity. Zaynukov throws more, pressures more and simply works at a higher pace than most lightweights. Even if Rzepecki has moments of success, I think Zaynukov gradually builds a lead by constantly attacking all three levels and forcing the Polish prospect onto the defensive.
I don’t expect him to dominate. In fact, I think this ends up being one of the more competitive fights on the card. But over fifteen minutes, I trust Zaynukov’s volume, movement and overall striking to separate him on the scorecards.
Zaynukov vs. Rzepecki prediction
I understand why so many people are picking Zaynukov comfortably. I just don’t think Damian Rzepecki is getting enough credit. This is a legitimate UFC-caliber prospect who has the tools to make life difficult for the highly touted Dagestani.
Still, I believe Zaynukov’s pace, striking variety and overall activity are enough to edge a competitive fight. Regardless of the outcome, I think we’ll be seeing much more of Rzepecki inside the Octagon.
Magomed Zaynukov vs. Damian Rzepecki prediction: Magomed Zaynukov defeats Damian Rzepecki via unanimous decision.
